Stopping power and energy loss straggling calculations for different targets and projectiles
MELF-GOS MODEL
This web page shows the calculated values of the stopping power and energy loss straggling for different targets as a function of the projectile kinetic energy. These values are calculated employing the dielectric formalism, which needs the energy loss function (ELF) of the target material in the whole Bethe surface (i. e. for every transfer of energy, ћω, and momentum, ћk). The ELF is obtained by a fit to experimental data in the optical limit (k = 0) and extrapolated to k ≠ 0 by the MELF-GOS model.
The information in this page is structured as follows:
Sections 1 and 2 compile the stopping power and straggling data, respectively. Both are given in graph format (.jpg file), where we compare our results with other models and with experimental measurements. Also, you can download the data in an Origin file (.opj) or a raw data file (.dat).
The ELFs in which the calculations are based appear in Section 3, where you can find the experimental ELF in the optical limit for every target and our fitting with the MELF-GOS model. You can also find an alternative form to express the ELF, the Optical Oscillator Strength (OOS). The graph file (.jpg) shows the experimental and the fitted ELF; the latter values are in the .dat file, and the fitting parameters are in the Microsoft Word file (.doc).
