Interaction of fast particles with condensed matter

Go to home page

The interaction of fast particles with condensed matter has both basic and applied interest, in order to know, analyse and/or modify the structure of matter.

Among the topics we have studied, the most oustanding and recent are the following:

- differences in the energy loss by atomic or molecular ions (so called vicinage effects);

- energy delivered by swift proton beams to biological targets (related to hadron therapy);

- generation and transport of electrons by proton beams in materials of microelectronic or biological interest (related to ion beam lithography and radio therapy).

Presently we collaborate with researchers from:
Centro Atómico Bariloche

Fondazione Bruno Kessler

Universitat d'Alacant

University of Ioannina

Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María
